Finding Our Home In Bansko
Written by: Linda Teppler
It was cold when my husband and I arrived in February of 2026. We had just spent weeks getting rid of 97 percent of our lives and took a 20-hour plane trip to relocate to Bulgaria. We were not only cold, but utterly exhausted. The very first thing we were greeted with at Four Leaf Clover was a friendly face and a welcoming voice, but that was just the beginning.
In America, I had only ever known rentals with blank white walls, midrange tan carpets that realtors tried to pass off as new, and endless lists of restrictions. At FLC, we walked into an apartment that was colorful, bright, impeccably clean, and fully equipped with both A/C and generous heating. We weren’t rushed for anything. Instead of being forced to immediately go over rules or contracts after the exhausting journey, we were given space. We had time to sit down, have a cup of tea, get some groceries, and enjoy our balcony before we even unpacked.
We weren’t just welcomed by the staff; we were welcomed by everyone. The community WhatsApp chat made it instantly clear that the people in FLC were happy we were there. Since arriving, we have been invited to dinners, classes, coffee, and game nights. The invaluable tidbits of information about local stores, sports, taxis, and cultural norms have been a lifesaver. We haven’t just found an apartment here – we have found a home and a community that we really love.
